One guess which movie I saw. Actually I had the idea before, but I just needed any kind of thin pretext to see it.

The Eureka moment was when seeing a preview showing a minion with one eye and goggles. Originally I was only going to use one minion, but added a second, and then a third, and then more, and more. How they fit together as minions but still show specific characteristics just worked!

Oh yeah, Hermies was the toughest. His hair makes him very identifiable, but the minions don't have hair anything like that.
