Pop Up

Gulliver 63 is sponsoring a series of drawings celebrating the date Futurama returns to TV. This is my little entry.

Bender: “Hurry up, Professor! I’m going to miss the start of seeing me, Bender, on TV!”
Professor: “Now Bender, be quiet! It’s been a year since our movie was released. Another few minutes won’t kill you.”

:icongulliver63:

For me this is another arts and crafts project. This is a functional “pop up” card. You know those silly cards that when they’re opened a picture stands up and when they’re closed the picture folds away? This is the Kaspired version.

The finished size is 9 x 11 ½ inches.

Nice work, there! I really like it, thought it was some sort of official product at first! (if that's any compliment to you...?)

Official Product? Oh that's the best compliment I've heard. Thank you very much!

Oh that just made my day! Thank you very much.

One of my favorite little bits is the inside of Benders head. Did you see the Prof/Bender detail photo?

Yeah I have, and the detail on what remains of Bender's head (and the rest of it that the Professor is holding) is very impressive. :D

Oooh! Creative!
It's also interesting to see your own style with the shows style in the background.

Is a touch different, isn't it?

One of the photos I took but didn't use was a straight on shot. The reason I didn't use it was the figures blended into the back drop and they didn't look like they were stood off. On that photo the differences were blatent.

Thanks!

The idea came when I was at the local art store and one of the employees was flipping through a book of pop up art. (Yes there really is such a book!) I had been wanting to do something for Gullivers tribute and this was an unusual enough idea to work.

Absolutely fantastic...I almost wish that it was something that we all could sign and give to Matt and the gang! This has to be one of the most amazing things I've seen on dA. BTW, I'm now a member of the Simpsons and Futurama Fanworks...

I'd be estactic if they just merely took a look at it...

This is a great idea doing a little thank you for the show. (Insert pat-on-the-back here)

Well, ya get a big pat on the back here...I showed off my cartoon to my office staff today, and I'll get to show yours off to them tomorrow. The one receptionist, who is a Trekker, got it - the other, I sort of had to explain the whole thing to her. Barbarians...
