The Kiss by kaspired The Kiss by kaspired
Recognize the painting? This one is based on The Kiss by Gustav Klimit.

This looks much better full sized. (Hint-hint!)

Yes, there are some tidbits in the scrapbook: kaspired.deviantart.com/art/Ki…

Oh thank you very much! It's nice to hear things like this about an older drawing.

Three fingers? Oh yeah, I couldn't let that detail go.

I don't think so! But I've seen this painting on shoes, I'm not sure he could've predicted that either!

I'm surprised more people don't know The Kiss! Isn't it Klimt's most popular work?

It's funny you upload this; the other day I was in a shop and somebody had mass-produced actual statuesque versions of The Kiss. The more detailed it got, the less familiar it was— was still a cute concept though. I like what you did with it here!

I took a serious look at using one of his lesser known paintings but used this one just because it is the most recognized. Need to avoid the "Whazzat? Whozat?" questions.

Somebody actually made a statue of this? Oh shudder, shudder...

Thanks!

The hardest part was deciding when to stop putting detail on the gold. I just barely touched all the detail, didn't want to overload it.

It gives the characters more dept and a emotional ties that were originally just wishes. Love it. The mix with the Klimit is extraordinarily done. Color scheme totally works great too ;)

Ooh, fun. I immediately recognized it as a piece of a larger work I should have known but would not have been able to put a name to it sfor the life of me--damn. I'm so glad this was not in the quiz-format or there would have been anguishing and hair-pulling. Actually, I've always under-appreciated the fin-de-siece thru art noveau works and went instead whole hawg and bandwagonish toward the impressionist and post-impressionist pieces. Very impressive and as already stated: fun.

Did you flip through the series in the scrapbook? Alot of the fun stuff was drawn over.

Y'know I never had seen Elfen Lied, but I did find their use of Klimits painting. They did a good job with it.

At first I thought it was an omage to Elfen Lied so I was like *splee*.
But, I still think this is fantastic, so much like the original.

Cool! Thanks man.

Klimit did a really good job on the hands. Re-working them to only use three fingers was tough.

i really like how the gold like-waves look like. also, the hair coloring and shading is very soft, very neat indeed.
